Speed Training in Cincinnati

Speed is a skill that can be taught. Thrash Training Co. offers speed training in Cincinnati built on sound sprint mechanics, progressive acceleration development, and the strength and power qualities that support fast, repeatable movement. Coaching is led by Drew Uy, CSCS, with experience developing athletes across high school and collegiate settings, including Washington State University track & field.

01

Acceleration

First-step quickness and the ability to cover ground quickly separate athletes in nearly every sport. Training develops force application and body position through the first 10–20 yards, the phase where most team-sport athletes live.

02

Sprint Mechanics

Speed is coached, not just run. Athletes learn posture, arm action, ground contact, and foot placement through drilled progressions that build efficient, repeatable sprinting.

03

Maximum Velocity

For athletes who need top-end speed, training progresses to upright sprinting and max velocity mechanics — relaxing at high speed and maintaining technique under intensity.

04

Change of Direction

Agility is the ability to decelerate, reposition, and reaccelerate. Training builds the strength, body control, and mechanics that make sharp, efficient changes of direction.

05

Strength and Power for Speed

Speed rests on force production. Squats, hinges, jumps, and Olympic lifting variations build the strength and power qualities that allow athletes to put more force into the ground, faster.

06

Youth and High School Athletes

Progressions are age-appropriate. Younger athletes build coordination and movement quality first; high school athletes layer in advanced mechanics and the strength to express them.

07

Sport-Specific Application

Speed work is sequenced with the athlete’s sport calendar — peaking for competition, managing volume in-season, and building capacity in the off-season so gains transfer to the field or court.

Cincinnati Training Location
